Issue #817: This is why we bitcoin

Let's discuss.

Absolutely swamped today, so today's rag will be brief. Here's yet another example of why we Bitcoin.

Regardless of what you think about the Kyle Rittenhouse situation, the ability of Discover to deplatform a crowdfunding site hosting a fundraiser because they do not believe it should be allowed should send shivers down your spine. As you can see from the two tweets above, Discover is arbitrary with who they decide to deplatform.

Personally, I have no horse in the race when it comes to the Kyle Rittenhouse story. However, I do believe in due process and the inalienable rights of individuals to get a fair shot in the courts. The whole innocent until proven guilty thing is pretty important in my opinion. If we allow the court of public opinion to begin deciding who can and cannot receive money we are going to devolve into a terrible reality.

Luckily, bitcoin fixes this. More specifically, BTCPayServer and Tallyco.in fix this. Permissionless, self-hosted fundraising via the hardest currency to ever exist for the win!

Final thought...

Poseidon is getting angrier.
