OpenAI is rolling out the confidential inference services it first announced about a year ago, now officially debuting at DevDay. The idea: run AI queries inside trusted execution environments so data is protected even during inference. @anthonyronning, CTO of Maple, notes his team has been building on this thesis for over two years. Maple already operates a private-by-default platform handling multi-TEE provider services. Apple, Meta, Google, and to some extent Anthropic have all moved in this direction. OpenAI joining only strengthens the case that confidential computing is becoming the standard for AI infrastructure. Ronning says he's looking forward to seeing how OpenAI rolls it out and potentially integrating it, if the implementation is verifiable and solid.
