Issue #619: Why Bitcoin?

Here's a quality, evergreen read that doubles as a great introduction to Bitcoin and a great way to remind oneself why Bitcoin is important in today's world written by Wiz, a long time bitcoiner and cypherpunk. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Wiz last week to discuss Bisq, an open source decentralized exchange that aims to allow individuals to purchase bitcoin without KYC/AML compliance.

I highly recommend you peep the episode and check out Bisq after reading Wiz's article. Both pieces of content and the software that Bisq is building completely embody the cypherpunk ethos which Bitcoin was spawned from. I find it's always a good idea to get back to basics once price volatility begins picking up in either direction. The noise created by the volatility causes some to forget about the overarching mission of this technology and social movement behind it and the fact that short-term price volatility is the norm for bitcoin and is somewhat inconsequential if you have the long-term in mind.

So, go forth! Get back to basics on this bloody Friday. Maybe take a scroll through Satoshi's writings after you finish up with the Wiz content. That always warms the soul.

Final thought...

Saw Parasite last weekend. It's been on the mind all week. Definitely go check it out if you haven't already.

Enjoy your weekend, freaks.
