Issue #1054: UX Improvement with Lightning Address
Share

Here's a really cool development in the world of Lighting from Andre Neves and the Zebedee team, Lightning Address. This new tool leverages LNURL to create a way to connect an endpoint similar to an email address to the Lightning Network. Allowing individuals to send sats to others using a reusable and readable string. This will significantly improve the user experience for individuals looking to receive Lightning tips and those looking to dish them out.

Another thing the release of Lightning Address highlights is how Bitcoin is slowly but surely integrating itself into the Internet stack via the Lightning Network. We're going to wake up one day and realize that the Internet has been supercharged by the Bitcoin stack filling in holes that existed for decades as humanity attempted to invent a native payments layer.

BTC/LN brings that layer to life and, as a result, will change the nature of the economy forever. It is rough around the edges. But make no mistake, it is maturing right before our eyes. Shoutout to Andre and team for pushing things forward.

Final thought...

Pony beers are underrated.
