A New Look and Feel: Truth for the Commoner

It's been a bit over a week since I last posted a rag. This is due to the fact that I was on a Ten31 portfolio company retreat in Utah and the fact that we've been making some big changes to our site and strategy behind the scenes and have been sprinting to push it live. Well, it's officially live today and I am excited to fill you in on our new look, our new strategy, and our new partnership with Mash.

I've been writing this rag for a little over six years and it has slowly but surely morphed into a humble media company. Across the newsletter and podcasts I've put out over 2,000 pieces of content over that six year period. It's been an incredible ride and I have personally grown more than I ever thought was possible as an individual and an operator. With that being said, there is always room for improvement. It's time for TFTC to take the next step to level up.

For years I've wanted to bring more writers under the TFTC umbrella to produce quality content that helps educate individuals about the power of bitcoin, other freedom tech, Austrian economics, and provides the community with some critical cultural commentary. However, we operate on a shoe string budget and I've always had the feeling that if you're paying individuals to write for you, you aren't finding the best content creators. This isn't a knock on the profession of writing. It's simply a recognition that the media landscape has drastically shifted in recent years and the people producing the best content are those who are domain experts who self publish. The world is starving for quality information as mainstream media has devolved into a legion of stenographers who parrot the party lines that are fed to them. The productive class of people who are actually doing things throughout the economy have recognized this and are filling the information void with content that gives the common man an insider's perspective on things that are happening across different domains.

I've often thought about curating a list of writers and syndicating their content via TFTC but have been a bit apprehensive to do so because I can see how that can be viewed as a one way growth hack for TFTC with little value for the writers outside of increased distribution. My feelings about this changed earlier this Summer when I sat down with the team at Mash to get an update on the progress they have made with their monetization tools. Because of Mash, I now have a way to feel comfortable with the curated syndication model due to the fact that I can easily monetize the content on the site via the lightning network and do a revenue split with the writers who bring value to TFTC.

On top of this, Mash's suite of tools brings a new level of interactivity to the site that moves us far beyond a simple comment section. TFTC community members can now contribute to the content directly by adding reactions to each article that act as signal boosters to highlight important sections of articles. Community members can also send value directly to TFTC in the form of boosts, one-off donations, and participating in lightning enabled polls that we'll be able to embed in the content. Our partnership with Mash highlights the power of bitcoin and the lightning network. We would not be able to explore this model if bitcoin, lightning and Mash did not exist.

It's a brave new world, freaks. And we're looking to practice what we preach by moving even closer to a bitcoin standard at TFTC.

Speaking of TFTC, this redesign and strategy relaunch provides us with the opportunity to focus on our mission which is exemplified by what TFTC stands for; Truth for the Commoner. Our goal is to equip our community with content that is high signal, produced by people who know what they're talking about, and isn't afraid to go against the mainstream narratives. It has become abundantly clear that the media landscape is completely broken. Everything from the editorial side of things to monetization is corrupted with perverse incentives that lead audiences astray. TFTC exists to bring you the important information the mainstream is trying to suppress. However, we do not want to be a doom and gloom site that leaves you feeling stressed. We want to give the TFTC community actionable advice that can enable each individual to make changes in their life that sets them on a path to robust sovereignty. To achieve that we will curate writers and content that provide the best information and actionable advice we can find. And we will monetarily compensate those producers with bitcoin.

With that in mind, we'd like this to be a collaborative process where it makes sense. Some of the best leads in terms of subjects to cover over the years have come from the community. Many of you are quick to send links and anecdotes via email and direct messages that have brought an incredible amount of value to TFTC. Let's keep that going. If you are aware of any writers who are putting out high signal content that you'd like to see syndicated on the site, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Now, if you could do your Uncle Marty a favor, please go check out the new site, interact with the Mash tools, and report back on what you like or don't like. That would be greatly appreciated. You can let us know what you think in the comment section below.

We're going to win.

Final thought...

The Phillies are looking dangerous.
