Issue #1349: When everyone fears their government, their government has fallen

via Twitter

This tweet is emblematic of the sad state of affairs in the United States. Brian Wesbury recognizes that bitcoin is a superior monetary good and network that comes with no QE, no inflationary monetary policy, and no government manipulation, yet he does not believe it will survive because the government will kill it. When this is line of thinking is the status quo in the country you live in your government has fallen. You no longer live with a government that serves you. You live under a totalitarian regime and you don't have the rights you believe you do.

"Does the government fear us? Or do we fear the government? When the people fear the government, tyranny has found victory. The federal government is our servant, not our master!" - Thomas Jefferson

The sad thing is, you can't really blame Brian or others who hold similar views for thinking this way. The last three years (or the entirety of the 21st century so far if we're being honest with ourselves) have proven that the US government is more than willing to trample on civil liberties as the a majority of the citizenry bends over and takes it like a docile eunuch. It is an objective fact that people in the US fear the government way more than the government fears us. In fact, it doesn't fear us at all.

This is not okay and there is a pressing need for Americans to develop the intestinal fortitude necessary to put the government back in its place. And I believe that bitcoin is a great first step to shift the power back towards the people. The freedom to determine what you deem to be the best money to save your life's work in and transact with is a fundamental freedom that many have lost connection with. Why should individuals be forced into using a money that is being openly manipulated and debased by unelected central bankers and Treasury officials when a better alternative exists on the free market? If the central bank, in conjunction with the federal government, has failed to manage their currency appropriately, why should everyone be forced to go down with the ship?

America is supposed to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. We aren't free and, as is evidenced by Brian's tweet and the majority of people who share his views on the subject, there are very few brave men left on this land. It is sickening. But all hope is not lost. The tides can always turn. And the opportunity to turn them has never been greater than it is now, which is a bit of a paradox. The US federal government is the most bloated and power drunk it has ever been since we declared independence from the British, but the bloat and the chaotic scramble to hold onto power is producing a "mask off" moment. The more the predators in government and central banking lose control of the fiat system, the harder they flail their batons around to beat people into place. The constant bashing of the people as the government tries to get the herd in line is a constant reminder of the lack of freedom we have in 2023. This bashing can lead one of two ways; a future in which the government controls everything and you wake up a slave, or a future in which fires of bravery are reignited in the stomachs of men and they finally develop the courage to stand up for what they know to be just and true.

Bitcoin is the most just system that has been brought to humanity in centuries, probably ever. It is easy to stand behind once you understand the properties of the network. It is transparent. It is available to anyone who can download the software. It has no central point of control that can be leveraged to corrupt the network. It is the digital embodiment of "can't tread on me".

If you're not willing to defend the ability to access this network because it may make the government mad, you are a feckless coward who should give up and internalize the fact that you are a good slave.
